What do I want from [... tools]

(Where tools are things like git-annex and upspin, and possibly other things like ssb.)

• i think i want different things:
  • sync between work <-> stick <-> laptop
  • “never forget (old files)”, i.e. make it possible to find them again, like “what was that video about cake i watched a few weeks ago”?
  • don’t worry about disk space
  • archival storage (backup and sync from/to an external storage thingy, e.g for my projects, documents and movies)
  • reorganize without having to redo it everywhere
  • know where stuff came from, e.g. downloads, youtube videos, …
